Impaired Commercial Truck Driver Involved Afternoon Collision

(Township Of Puslinch, On) - On November 16, 2019 at approximately 12:20 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-motor-vehicle collision on Wellington Road 36 at Highway 6 involving a tractor trailer and a dump truck in Morriston.

Investigation revealed that the tractor trailer was northbound on Highway 6 when the dump truck reversed into its path from Wellington Road 36, causing severe damage to the tractor trailer.

While speaking with the dump truck operator, police formed the opinion that the driver's ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The accused was transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Paramjit SINGH, 48-years-old of Mississauga has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on December 20, 2019 to answer to the charges.

Suspect Arrested Following 4.5 Hours Search

Accused Identified

(Township Of Guelph-Eramosa, On) - On November 15, 2019 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the area of the Fourth Line near Side Road 20 for a suspicious vehicle, casing houses.

Officers arrived at a residence and observed the door of the home forced open and the vehicle reversing down the driveway. The driver, exited the vehicle carrying a backpack and fled into the bush on foot. A query confirmed that the vehicle was stolen and loaded with stolen property.

Following a 4.5 hours continuous track by the Wellington County OPP Canine Unit and the OPP Emergency Response Team along with the assistance of Aviation Services, the accused was arrested in a field on the Third Line of Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Further investigation revealed that the accused was breaching conditions of a probation order and a recognizance.

Lyndon Garret WESLEY, 38-years-old of Kitchener faces the following charges:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Over $5000
  • Break Enter into a Dwelling with Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
  • Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime Under $5000 X2
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Possession of Counterfeit Currency
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance X5
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Contrary to the Criminal Code.

  • Possession of Methamphetamine

Contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Impaired Driver Arrested Following Two Collisions

(Township Of Centre Wellington, On) - On November 17, 2019 at approximately 9:30 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two motor vehicle fail to remain collision on St. George Street in Fergus. While officers were enroute they received a second call regarding another motor vehicle collision involving the same vehicle on East Mill Street in Elora and witnesses believed that the driver was impaired.

When officers arrived at the scene, they observed the driver behind the wheel of the vehicle and attempting to start it. Officers confirmed that it was the same vehicle involved in both collisions and while speaking with the driver formed the opinion that they were impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Michael MAGNA, 35-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Impaired Operation, Impaired Operation - 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood), Dangerous Driving and Fail to Stop at Motor Vehicle Collision X2 contrary to the Criminal Code.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on December 20, 2019 to speak to the charges.

Driver Arrested For Refusing To Comply With Breath Sample Demand

(Township Of Puslinch, On) - On November 16, 2019 at approximately 9:50 p.m. a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a 2016 sedan that entered into a R.I.D.E. checkpoint on Gore Road in Puslinch Township.

While police were speaking with the driver, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on their breath. A Roadside Screening Device test demand was read, which the driver refused to comply with and was placed under arrest.

Further investigation revealed that the driver was under suspension and there wasn't insurance or permit on the vehicle.

Judit Eniko BOKOR, 37-years-old of Brant County has been charged with Fail or Refuse to Comply With Demand contrary to the Criminal Code, Drive While Under Suspension X2 and No Permit contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and No Insurance contrary to the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

 The accused will appear in the Ontario court of justice - Guelph on December 17, 2019 to speak to the charges.

Impaired Driver Faces Multiple Charges

(Township Of Guelph-Eramosa, On) - On November 14, 2019 at approximately 11:20 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Speedvale Avenue West at the Woolwich Townline involving a possible impaired driver.

Officers attended the scene and while speaking with the driver, an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected on their breath. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. During the subsequent search, police seized a baggy containing marihuana bud from the driver's pocket. The accused was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing and while enroute they caused damage to the rear seat of the police vehicle. Once at the detachment the accused refused to provide a breath sample to the officer.

Further investigation revealed that the accused was breaching conditions of an undertaking.

Henry HARRICKEY, 22-years-old of Cambridge has been charged with Refuse to comply with Breath Sample Demand, Mischief and Breach of Undertaking x2 contrary to the Criminal Code, Careless Driving and Novice Driver BAC Above Zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and Drive Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available contrary to the Cannabis Control Act 2017.

The accused was held for a bail hearing. A 90-day Administrative Driver's Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.

Security Guard Assaulted At Downtown Bar

On November 17th, 2019, at 12:48am, an adult female security guard working the door of a bar located in the downtown core of the City of Guelph dropped money on the ground. An adult male patron picked up the money and put it in his pocket. The male refused to give the money back and a confrontation ensued. The patron ended up shoving the security guard, grabbing her by the arm, swinging her around and throwing her to the floor. The patron then fled on foot.

The security guard sustained bruising and swelling to numerous areas of her body and required medical attention.

Vehicle Struck Building And Took Off

On November 18th, 2019, at approximately 7pm, a vehicle struck the corner of a business located near the intersection of Clair Road East and Gordon Street in the City of Guelph, causing significant damage.

Construction Site Break In Results In Fire

Some time on the evening of November 16th, 2019, a construction site located on the east end of the City of Guelph was entered for a second time in a week. A fire was started in the penthouse of the building using several pieces of worker safety equipment, and then several pieces of the equipment was thrown down an open elevator shaft causing significant damage.

Garage Break in

Some time between 11:18pm and 11:48pm on November 14th, 2019, a residential garage located on the east end of the City of Guelph was entered. A vehicle inside the garage was rummaged through and a Costco cooler bag was taken. A black Kia Sol was observed in the area at the time of the break in.

Shed Break in

Some time overnight on November 17th, 2019, the backyard shed of a residence located on the west end of the City of Guelph was entered. The lock of the shed was damaged but nothing was taken.

Some time between 10pm on November 17th and 8:15am on November 18th, 2019, a silver 2012 Chrysler 300 was taken from the driveway of a residence located in the south end of the City of Guelph.
